Social Media Shutdown

Social Media Shutdown 2019

It's been 2 weeks since we all suffered through the long--waiting--hours of a worldwide Facebook/Instagram outage. And though we may have survived the "Great Social Media Shutdown of 2019", it proved to be a frustrating time for many of us. It got me thinking about the way we engage on social media...

Have you ever thought about how much you engage with your favorite shops, stores, suppliers or people on social media? I bet you did 2 weeks ago when you were unable to post or see any new content. Ask yourself, if you are unable to engage on social media platforms, how else do we connect (besides actual face to face conversations)?

Did you know that as users of Facebook and Instagram we have zero rights or ownership of our published content/accounts? Zero. So, if Facebook and Instagram said "Adios" for good, what does that mean for you and me? It means they can pack up all your content and move whenever they want. Bye bye.

So how do you stay connected?

I am learning that it is so important to stay connected to my clients in many ways. And it is important for all of us to support businesses that we love in multiple ways. Be sure to subscribe to email lists and newsletters. Bookmark your favorite businesses and websites on your computer or phone. Read and engage on their blog posts. Not only does this help their business grow but it ensures that you won't lose connection when the next social media shutdown occurs. So let's start now! First step: Write a comment below some of the things you would be sad to miss out on if you lost social media! Step two: I would be honored if you would subscribe to my email list.
